MADISON (WKOW) — The Rastafarian Church that was raided by Madison police in May is open again.
The Lion of Judah House of West Mifflin Street even has a sign out front that says “We’re Back Baby.”
Founder Jesse Schworck tells 27 News the church reopened Tuesday.
Schworck and co-founder Dylan Bangert are accused of selling marijuana out of the church.
Both men say they were giving away marijuana as part of the religion.
For now, Schworck says they are keeping cannabis out of the church, so they can focus on getting their programs running again.
“We don’t want to jeopardize ourself and also so many people that are counting on us by getting bail jumping or some other charge that will put our whole case in jeopardy,” Schworck said.
On Monday, a judge changed Schworck’s bail conditions, which allowed him to return to the church.
The Wisconsin State Journal says Bangert’s bail was changed that same day, so he could also return.
