Madison police arrest man brandishing knife on east side

MADISON (WKOW) — Madison police took a man into custody they say threatened several others with a knife on the city’s near east side.

Tony P. Olson, 31, was arrested on charges of second-degree reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct while armed, carrying a concealed weapon and two counts of felony bail jumping, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.

Police allege Olson was walking down the 800 block of East Main Street with a man and a woman when he became verbally abusive and threatened both with a knife.

At the same time, an 11-year-old girl was walking past with her father, police said.

When officers arrived Olson was still allegedly holding the knife.

“When Olson was ordered to drop the knife he walked several steps along the sidewalk partially in the direction of the officer, with the knife still in his hand, before tossing it to the ground and being taken into custody,” police said.

No one was injured.
