MADISON (WKOW) — The world’s largest dairy expo begins Tuesday, Oct. 1 in Madison at the Alliant Energy Center. More than 60,000 people from more than 100 countries are expected to attend the expo throughout the week.
The expo is a forum for dairy producers, companies, organizations and dairy enthusiasts to come together to discuss the industry, exchange ideas and learn about new technology being used.
In 2018, the expo brought the city of Madison more than $26 million dollars.
Highlight events include a trade show, educational seminars and the 2019 Cattle Show. U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Sonny Purdue will also be at the expo. He’ll be holding a town hall meeting, giving people in the dairy industry a chance to ask questions and address concerns.
Throughout the week, traffic near the Alliant Energy Center and the Beltline is expected to be heavy, so commuters should expect slowdowns and delays.
The expo runs through Saturday.
