Woman rescued from floodwaters in downtown Madison

MADISON (WKOW) — A woman had to be rescued from her car after she became stranded in floodwaters on Madison’s east side Tuesday night.

Madison fire officials say emergency crews were called to the intersection of East Washington Avenue and North Livingston Street just before 9:30 p.m. When they arrived at the intersection they found a Mini Cooper stranded in active flooding with a woman kneeling on the hood of the car.

First responders helped the woman off the car and walked her to the sidewalk, according to Madison fire.

Madison fire officials say they want to remind drivers to not drive into standing or moving water.
