UPDATE: Firefighters investigate Mallard’s stadium blaze as arson

The Madison Fire Department is actively investigating a fire overnight at the Madison Mallards pro shop as an arson, firefighters announced Friday.

“The fire is being actively investigated as an arson,” firefighters said in a daily report on the department’s website.“The Madison Fire Department is assisted by the Madison Police Department, ATF, and DCI in its investigation.”

Crews were called to the Mallard’s Duck Pond stadium on the 2900 block of North Sherman Avenue just before 10 p.m. Thursday night after multiple passersby reported the blaze.

(WKOW) — A fire at the Madison Mallards Duck Pond is being investigated as potentially suspicious, according to the Madison Fire Department.

Crews were called to the 2900 block of North Sherman Avenue at about 9:51 p.m. Multiple passersby reported the fire.

As firefighters arrived “fire was immediately apparent as they pulled onto Northport Drive.”

The building that houses the Mallards pro shop was fully engulfed. MFD said an “aggressive fire fight” knocked the fire down within minutes. The crew then continued to deal with flare-ups and hot spots.

No one was reported hurt in the fire.

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire, but it is being investigated as potentially suspicious.
