MADISON (WKOW) — The Madison Police and Fire Commission plans to hire a search firm to find a new police chief.
The city is looking to replace former Chief Mike Koval who retired in October.
At a meeting Monday, the commission said it expects the search to take at least six months.
They’re planning to pick a search firm at a meeting on January 13.
The commission is expected to hold a special meeting within the next few weeks to sit down and discuss the criteria for a search firm.
Firms will have until the end of December to submit proposals.
The police and fire commission says it will not spend more than $50,000 for the search.
