Adams County remains identified as missing Dane County woman

FRIENDSHIP (WKOW) -- Authorities identified human remains found last weekend as a missing Dane County woman.

A hunter found 24-year-old Annastasia N. Evans' remains Saturday afternoon in a wooded area in Adams County, according to a release from the Wisconsin Department of Justice sent Friday.

Law enforcement responded to the scene and confirmed the remains as human.

Witnesses last saw Evans May 4, 2019in the Wisconsin Dells Area, traveling in a cream-colored full-size sedan.

Evans was initially reported missing in May.

The sheriff's office issues renewed calls for information in August. At the time, authorities put an emphasis on Adams, Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Jefferson, Juneau, and Sauk Counties.

In October,Dane County deputies askedrural property owners, hunters and hikers to watch for anything out of the ordinary.

This is an ongoing investigation. The Adams County Medical Examiner, Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory, and Wisconsin State Patrol assisted the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Dane County Sheriff’s Office, and the state Division of Criminal Investigations.
