Snow develops with tough travel late Friday and early Saturday

MADISON (WKOW) - Winter weather advisory begins at 2 pm this afternoon and lasts til 6 pm Saturday.

It's a cold start with temps in the single digits quickly rising to the mid 20s this afternoon under mostly cloudy skies.

Snow will develop from west to east this afternoon. Expect a slower than normal evening commute.

Snow will fall at its heaviest late evening and early overnight. As our main low pressure system advances into the Upper Midwest, the warm front ahead of it will move closer to the WI/IL border.

This will likely cause a period of sleet mixed with some freezing rain for our southernmost row of counties late Friday night and early Saturday.
