Dane County Jail quarantines 8 inmates with fevers

MADISON (WKOW) -- Eight Dane County Jail inmates are in quarantine after coming down with fevers.

Jail staff put each of the men into their own segregation cells in the Public Safety building, according to a press release sent Thursday by the Dane County Sheriff's Office.

Medical staff are coordinating testing for the men for COVID-19.

Nine other inmates have been moved to a separate dormitory in the Public Safety Building because they may have had contact with someone in quarantine. None of those inmates are exhibiting symptoms, the sheriff's office said.

"Deputies and jail medical staff will continue to monitor all of the inmates in the Dane County Jail for any illness, and will take all precautions necessary," the release said. "The Sheriff’s Office will continue to provide updates on any new developments to the health and safety of those living and working in the jail."
