UW Health to increase access to certain services NEW

UW Health is increasing access to certain services for its patients.

A spokesperson confirms to 27 News the health system is making changes to "safely increase the access to vital services that our community needs from us."

UW Health would not say which services or procedures it would start doing again but said that information may be made public soon.

"These actions were taken with the health and safety of our patients and staff in mind and are monitored constantly to ensure that we continue to prioritize patient and staff safety," UW Health said in a statement.

UW Health also confirmed anyone coming in for an inpatient procedure would be tested for COVID-19 and if a procedure presents an increased risk to either patient or provider, that patient would be tested as well.

In mid-March, all Madison hospitals had begun to postpone all non-essential procedures and surgeries in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19. They had expected that to continue through at least April 24.
