SUN PRAIRIE (WKOW) -- Firefighters say the owners of a house in the town of Sun Prairie can't live there after the home was damaged by a fire.
Dispatchers sent Sun Prairie firefighters to the 5700 block of Twin Lane Road at 5:45 p.m.
Soon after arriving, firefighters asked for a box alarm--a request for nearby departments to send help.
The extra help came quickly and crews had the fire out before it could destroy the home.
Sun Prairie fire chief Chris Garrison says they were fortunate to have great mutual aid crews.
"That's the nice thing. When we get the teamwork like this and everybody works together, that's why we're able to achieve saving a building like this," Garrison said. "Now, there's a lot of damage to the inside, I'm not going to doubt that, but we saved the exterior structure. That means a lot."
Garrison estimated damage to the interior of the home will exceed $150,000.
Two people were home when the fire broke out, but both got out safely.
Chief Garrison says they are still investigating how the fire started.
