UPDATE (WKOW) -- About 17 people have been displaced after a fire at a multi-family home on Madison's north side Monday morning, according to fire officials.
Authorities tell 27 News that a fire started on a porch of a second-floor unit at the building on East Karstens Drive. They say firefighters were able to contain the fire, but there is smoke damage to the entire second floor and part of the first floor.
No one was hurt and the Red Cross is assisting affected residents.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

MADISON (WKOW) -- Firefighters are responding to a structure fire in the 3700 block of East Karstens Drive in Madison.
Dane County dispatch tells 27 News that heavy smoke was reportedly seen coming from a multi-family unit just before 8:50 a.m.
Multiple crews are responding. No word yet if anyone is hurt or the extent of damage to the building.
