On Friday, June 26, the southern portion of Wisconsin could see severe weather.
Guidance from the National Weather Service in Sullivan (Milwaukee) suggests that high winds and tornadoes are among the threat posed during Friday's storms:
Severe Thunderstorms are likely this afternoon. The main hazards for any severe storms will be strong gusty winds up to 70mph and a few tornadoes embedded in the line of storms will be possible. There remains a small risk for hail up to an inch. Locations under the Orange Enhanced Risk have the best chance of seeing severe weather this afternoon. Make sure your weather radio is plugged in and set up, that you have a good source of weather information on your mobile device, and know a place to go to shelter if a storm moves toward your location.
Other threats, noted in the National Weather Service's situation report on Friday morning, include the possibility for 1" hail, heavy rainfall that could lead to flooding in storms, in addition to the high wind risk.
The highest risk of severe weather is along a line from Wisconsin Dells to Port Washington and south, including most of the Madison listening area.
Timing of the severe storm threat is from noon until 8 p.m. CDT.
