One person shot on Madison’s east side

MADISON (WKOW) -- The Madison Police Department says one person was hurt in a shooting on the city's east side Tuesday night.

The person who was shot was taken to the hospital. Police say officers conducted life-saving efforts, including CCR, until EMS crews arrived. There is no word on the extent of the victim's injuries.

The police department's officer-in-charge says the shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. outside of Red Roof Inn on Hayes Road.

Police confirm they are looking for a suspect who ran off after the shooting. Officers brought in a K9 to try to track down the suspect.

Police are looking to speak with possible witnesses and they are reviewing nearby surveillance cameras to see if they can provide footage of what happened.
