MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police are now investigating a homicide after a man was shot outside of a hotel on the city's east side Tuesday night.
Police say the shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. outside of Red Roof Inn on Hayes Road.
Officers found an 18-year-old man from Dane County with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he later died, according to police.
Police detectives believe the victim was specifically targeted.
Police are still looking for a suspect who ran off after the shooting. They are looking to speak with possible witnesses and they are reviewing nearby surveillance cameras to see if they can provide footage of what happened.
