MADISON (WKOW) -- Beginning Monday, October 25th, the City of Madison will lower speed limits on parts of Cottage Grove Road as part of their Vision Zero Campaign.
From Drexel Avenue to Highway 51, the speed limit will drop from 30 to 25 miles per hour.
Additionally, from Highway 51 to Flora Lane, the speed limits will go from 35 miles per hour to 30 miles per hour.
Temporary digital signboards will be posted to remind drivers of the speed limit changes.
This comes as the city is making an effort to make streets safer.
Since 2015, the city reports two people were killed and two people suffered serious injuries in traffic crashes on this segment of Cottage Grove Road.
The city hopes that slower speed limits will prevent future injuries or death.
This is the final speed reduction for Vision Zero of 2021.
