Two people seriously hurt, dog killed following Oregon shooting

OREGON (WKOW) -- Officials took two people to the hospital with severe gunshot wounds Monday morning after police responded to reports of a wounded woman.

According to aFacebook postfrom the Oregon Police Department, police initially responded to 555 South Perry Parkway at 7:49 a.m. Monday after a woman called 911 to report a gunshot wound. As officers approached the apartment inside, they heard more shots fired.

Upon entering the apartment, police found a man and a woman with gunshot wounds, as well as a dead dog. Police secured the handgun they believe fired the shots, and both people were taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Officials have not identified who fired the shots. Police said in the release that they will make more information public as it becomes available.

Police said while there will be a large police presence for the remainder of the day, but there is no danger to the public.
