Storms bring significant damage to Mayville, Juneau

DODGE COUNTY (WKOW) -- Storms tore through Wisconsin Thursday, causing significant damage in Dodge County.

The Dodge County Sheriff's Office reports the storm moved through around 6 p.m., bringing the most damage to Juneau and Mayville.

The National Weather Service confirmed on radar a tornado hit Mayville.

Many power lines and trees were knocked down, closing streets and highways.

At this point, the Sheriff's Office says only minor injuries have been reported to emergency personnel.

Authorities are asking residents in those affected areas to shelter in place while emergency crews work to clean up damage and restore power.  They're also asking that all non–residents avoid the cities of Juneau and Mayville to allow emergency responders to assist those affected.

City of Juneau residents who have been displaced from their homes are encouraged to report to Dodgeland Schools 401, S. Western Ave, Juneau, WI.

City of Mayville residents who have been displaced from their homes are encouraged to report to Mayville High School at 500 N. Clark St. in Mayville.

Red Cross and Dodge County Health and Human Services/Public Health are on scene to assist.
