Body of missing Dodgeville woman found in vehicle in Nebraska

DODGEVILLE, Wis. (WKOW) — A man arrested after a pursuit in Nebraska involving the vehicle belonging to a missing woman from Dodgeville is now accused of killing her.

Gavin Thompson, 23, of Dodgeville, was arrested early Wednesday morning on Interstate 80 near Lincoln after he drove away from Nebraska State Patrol in a black 2020 Hyundai Kona belonging to Dorinda Segebrecht, 67, of Dodgeville. Her family had reported her missing Tuesday night.

Segebrecht's body was found inside the vehicle driven by Thompson, officials confirmed on Thursday.

The Iowa County Sheriff's Office said Thompson remains in custody in Nebraska. The sheriff's office added that the following charges are to be filed by Iowa County District Attorney Zach Leigh:

  • First-degree intentional homicide
  • Burglary while armed with a dangerous weapon
  • Hiding a corpse
  • Operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent

Law enforcement officials believe the crime was random.
