Mark Tauscher says he will not run for WI governor next year

- Former Wisconsin Badger and Green Bay Packer offensive lineman Mark Tauscher says he is humbled by a campaign apparently designed to encourage him to run for Wisconsin governor, but adds that he has no plans to do so in 2018.

As 27 News reported Thursday, a group of citizens launched a facebook page Tuesday, called "Mark Tauscher for WI Governor". The facebook page notes, "This is a grassroots effort to encourage Mark to run for Governor. We are not affiliated with Mark, yet."

Since retiring from the NFL after the 2010 season, Tauscher has become a sports media personality and has invested in several Dane County businesses, including The Isthmus newspaper.

The twitter account for the Wilde and Tausch radio show released an official statement from Tauscher Friday morning. It reads, "It has recently come to my attention that a Facebook page was developed encouraging me to run for Governor of Wisconsin. I am honored and humbled by this gesture and the resulting comments from the community, but I will not be entering the 2018 race for Governor."
