Tracking device leads police to suspect, drugs

Madison police say they're talking to a woman after a CVS store in downtown Madison was held up by an armed robber Friday night.

Sgt. Jennifer Kane tells Channel 27 News the investigation is on-going in the incident that happened just before 7:00 p.m. at the CVS on Washington and Bedford Streets. She says a suspect displayed a weapon and demanded pharmaceuticals.

A device was also placed in with the drugs, which allowed the 9-1-1 dispatch center to give real-time updates to track the robber.

The person was stopped and contacted in the city of Monona by Monona and City of Madison police officers.

Sgt. Kane says she can't discuss whether it was the woman who was taken into custody and that no further information in the case is available for now.
