Madison man accused in deadly pedestrian crash appears in court

 A Madison man accused of crashing into three pedestrians, killing one of them, made an appearance in Dane County Court Wednesday.

32-year-old Kong Vang is accused of crashing into three pedestrians on South Park Street with his SUV. 24-year-old Wenxin Huai was killed in the crash. She died after being taken to a local hospital.

Vang was arrested for homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle, 2nd degree reckless endangerment - 3 counts, and operating while intoxicated - 2nd offense.

His court appearance on Wednesday was brief. According to court records,  Vang's attorney said she would no longer be able to represent Vang due to a conflict, and that new counsel should be appointed within the week.

A preliminary hearing is now scheduled for May 10th.
