Details

A Lake Mills couple suffered serious injuries - and their six-year-old poodle has now died - after an impaired driver ran a red light on E. Washington Ave. Wednesday afternoon.

The suspect was driving inbound on East Washington Ave. when he blew the light at N. First St. His car hit the victims' van broadside. The crash created a chain reaction collision involving two additional vehicles. The Lake Mills husband and wife – and their dog - were the only significantly injured. The dog was transported to a emergency veterinary hospital but did not survive. The couples' injuries are not listed as life-threatening.

The suspect tried to walk from the scene; however, a Capitol Police officer was among the witnesses driving the congested corridor. He went after and stopped the suspect, and made sure he stayed at the scene. The suspect is facing many tentative charges. They are listed above.
