Investigators determine natural gas leak to be cause of Fitchburg house exp

The state Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has determined the cause of the August 2016 house explosion in Fitchburg was a natural gas leak.

DCI investigators determined the leak came from an uncapped gas line where a gas dryer has once been located.

The ignition source for the explosion could not be identified.

Neighbors in Fitchburg learned of the findings at a Wednesday night debrief.
