An inmate at the Dane County Jail used a razor to cut his wrists and neck in a suicide attempt Thursday morning. The 26 year old Madison man's injuries are non life-threatening.
Sheriff's Department Spokeswoman Elise Schaffer says inmates are given a razor to shave for a short period of time in the morning. She adds they don't have the staff to monitor inmates while they shave.
The inmate did leave behind a suicide note. He was in jail on a probation hold.
