Man rescued from ice fall on Lake Koshkonong

A fisherman got an unexpected cold dip in Lake Koshkonong Sunday after his ATV fell through the ice.

Division Chief Dion Brown of the the Ft. Atkinson Fire Department says crews responded to the call of a person going through the ice a little after 1:30 p.m.

He says it happened on the northeast side of the lake, near East Lamp Road, about 400-500 yards out.

Chief Brown says two other people who were fishing nearby quickly came to help the man get out of the water, but first responders stayed on the scene to be sure the situation didn't escalate.

Brown says the fisherman was on an Argyle six-wheeler.  Eyewitnesses told authorities the man was wearing a life vest but Chief Brown says he didn't see one.

Personnel from Ryan Brothers Ambulance, who responded to the scene, took the man to his home after the incident.
