Portillo's bringing its classic Chicago-style eatery to Madison

(MADISON) WKOW -- Portillo’s, the fast-casual concept known for its menu of Chicago-style favorites, proudly announces details on its newest location at 4505 East Towne Blvd in Madison near East Towne Mall.

The Madison location is the brand’s third Wisconsin outposts following Portillo’s restaurants in Brookfield and Greenfield.

“Portillo’s has enjoyed such a warm welcome to Wisconsin,” CEO Keith Kinsey was quoted as saying in a news release. “Madison’s exciting culture and university setting made the city a logical next stop for our brand’s expansion. We look forward to continue our growth throughout the state.”

Once complete, the restaurant will feature a diner-themed interior, drawing décor inspiration from the 1950s and 1960s. The 9,000-square foot restaurant will include seating for more than 200 guests, a seasonal outdoor patio, and double-lane drive-thru.

Guests to the new Madison location can enjoy all of Portillo’s classic menu items, including Chicago-Style Hot Dogs, Italian Beef Sandwiches, char-grilled burgers, fresh salads, and Portillo’s famous Chocolate Cake. Portillo’s Madison will also offer the Badger Brat, a Usinger’s Fresh Bratwurst made with stone-ground German mustard and sauerkraut, available only in Wisconsin.

Fans can register for a chance to attend a sneak peek training meal prior to opening and receive updates on the Portillo’s Madison location by signing up at www.portillos.com/madison.

In 1963, Dick Portillo invested $1,100 into a small trailer to open the first Portillo’s hot dog stand in Villa Park, Illinois, which he called “The Dog House.” Years later, Portillo’s has grown to include restaurants in more than 50 locations across several states.
