Car crashes into building causing partial collapse

Madison police say the driver of the SUV may have had a medical emergency before the vehicle hit the building.

Officers say the driver was not seriously hurt.

Police say no one inside the building was hurt. A passerby was hit by a brick that fell from the building, but he told police he was okay and did not go to the hospital.

Williamson Street is still closed in front of the building.

Madison police and fire are on the scene of a building that has partially collapsed after being struck by a car at the intersection of Williamson and Dickenson streets in Madison.

Two people were injured, and all the people in the building have been evacuated, according to a Madison Fire Department spokesperson.

The heavy urban rescue team has been called in to help stabilize the building.

The car crashed into Ha Long Bay restaurant shortly after 3 p.m Friday, May 4, 2018.
