MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- Protesters are already active Thursday morning outside the Milwaukee hotel where President Donald Trump stayed overnight.

A handful of them had signs outside the Pfister Hotel. The president will attend a fundraiser at the hotel before he heads to Mount Pleasant in Racine County for a groundbreaking ceremony on the $10 billion Foxconn Technology Group campus.

Later in the day, a larger protest is planned at a park in Mount Pleasant, not far away from the Foxconn site.

Nearly 40 groups representing students, environmentalists, civil rights advocates, teachers, union workers and others have organized a protest for the same time. Their counter-event will feature dozens of speakers, a marching band, singers known as the "Raging Grannies" and musicians who plan to play the ominous theme music for Darth Vader and the bad guys from "Star Wars," according to the Associated Press.

WISN 12 News' Hillary Mintz is in front of the hotel where President Trump is and protesters have already gathered.
