Slow-No-Wake on Rock River for 4th of July Celebration

ROCK COUNTY (WKOW) -- The Rock County Sheriff's Office has declared a Slow-No-Wake speed restriction on the Rock River from the West Beloit Rock Town Line Road Bridge to the Portland Avenue Bridge on July 4th from 8:30 P.M. until midnight.

The decision comes after the Sheriff's Office, City of Beloit and Town of Beloit agreed that this area of the Rock River becomes very chaotic and dangerous due to a large number of boats on the Rock River for the 4th of July fireworks celebration.

They say the restriction will ensure safety in the area.

Deputies will place Slow-No-Wake signs along the river at all public access points in the restricted zone. Until tomorrow night, there is no speed restriction on the Rock River.
