Former city council member Brenda Konkel announces run for Madison mayor

Brenda Konkel, a former member of the Madison City Council and executive director of the Tenant Resource Center, announced on Twitter that she is running for Madison mayor.

In a tweet posted Sunday, Konkel wrote, "Yup, this is happening! I'm running for mayor!"

Konkel joins a slowly growing field of candidates, which now includes Alder Maurice "Mo" Cheeks and former alder Satya Rhodes-Conway.

Mayor Paul Soglin, who is running for governor, has not said whether he will run for re-election.

The mayoral election is April 2, 2019. A primary is scheduled for February 19, 2019.
