I-39 reconstruction set to move further south

Motorists who travel through the current construction zone on I-39/I-90 between Madison and the Illinois border will see more activity on the south end beginning in 2019.

The construction project will begin to emphasize its work between Shopiere Road and the border as construction continues to expand the roadway from two lanes to three in both directions for the entire 40-mile construction zone.

Bridges over the Rock River north of Janesville are expected to be nearing completion by the end of August, says Steve Theisen, Project Communications Manager.

This will allow for new cement pavement work to be completed for the new highways both north and south of the bridgework.

The I-39/I-43 junction makeover at Beloit will not begin until 2021.

Motorists are reminded that the speed limit in all construction zones from Madison to the Illinois border remains at 55 MPH for all vehicles.
