Milwaukee Police Officer Shot and Killed

Authorities say the officer who was shot has died.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Milwaukee police say an officer was shot and a suspect is in custody.   Deputy Fire Chief David Votsis says the Milwaukee Fire Department was called to the shooting shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday and was taking the officer to Froedtert Hospital.   Votsis says one other person was wounded in the shooting and the condition of both victims was not available.   The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports officers swarmed the scene in Metcalfe Park after the shooting. Mayor Tom Barrett also responded to the scene.   The Milwaukee Police Department plans a briefing Wednesday evening.   The shooting comes nearly two months after the death of a Milwaukee police officer. Charles "Chuckie" Irvine Jr. was killed after the squad car he was in crashed on the city's northwest side during a chase of a reckless driver.

MILWAUKEE (WISN) -- A Milwaukee police officer is among multiple people shot in Milwaukee's Metcalfe Park neighborhood, according to the Milwaukee Fire Department.

At this point, there is no word on the extent of anyone's injuries.

A report from WISN-TV in Milwaukee says there are hundreds of officers on scene.
