MADISON (WKOW) -- A Madison woman was arrested for third-offense OWI after crashing an SUV into a tree just feet away from a home on the city's east side.
Police say 28-year-old Kirstie R. Hanson, of Madison, crashed an SUV into a large spruce tree in the 2200 block of North Sherman Avenue on Monday night. Police say the tree prevented her from smashing into a nearby home.
The crash left a debris across a couple of lawns with at least one window of a nearby house broken, according to police. They say officers found bottles of alcohol inside the SUV.
Police say Hanson was taken to a hospital with broken ribs and other non-life threatening injuries. She was also arrested for third offense OWI.
