UPDATE (WKOW) -- One person is dead and another hurt after a three-car crash in Cottage Grove Sunday afternoon.
Dane County sheriff's officials say a truck was turning onto Highway 12 from Highway AB around 12:45 p.m. The driver headed north through the divided highway and hit a car that was headed west on 12. The truck spun and hit another car that was waiting at the stop sign at Highway AB and 12.
The person who was driving the car that was hit first was airlifted to a hospital and died. A 20-year-old passenger in that car was also hurt but is expected to recover.
Parts of the roads were closed for five hours while authorities investigated the crash. It's still under investigation.
