Janesville police recover body from Rock River

JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- The body of a man has been recovered from the Rock River, according to a news release from Janesville police.

Police were called to the area of the Rock River near the Centerway Street Bridge after a resident was walking along the river and reporting seeing a possible body in the river. Officers checked the area and located a body north of the dam about 20 feet from the shore.

The Janesville Fire Department was requested to assist with recovering.

Police say the body recovered is about 65 years of age or older. The identity is known and will be later released by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow, according to police.

Police say there currently are are no reports of any missing/endangered persons from the area.
