The final defendant in the July 2017 killing of a Madison woman has pleaded guilty.
Ciara Philumalee, 24, was killed early in the morning July 28, 2017 in a shooting on Karstens Drive.
Jennifer Lovick, 35, Madison pleaded guilty Thursday to a charge of Conspiracy to Commit Felony Murder. Charges of Party to First Degree Intentional Homicide and Party to First Degree Reckless Injury were dismissed, according to online court records.
She was one of four co-defendants: Donald Davis, Jr. was found guilty of First-Degree Intentional Homicide. Nicole Marco pleaded guilty to First Degree Reckless Homicide and Korey Johnson pleaded guilty to Second Degree Reckless Homicide, court records show.
Authorities say Davis believed Philumalee had helped people who robbed him several days before the homicide. Deputy Dane County District Attorney Matthew Moeser says Davis put out a "hit" on Philumalee, paying Lovick with money and crack cocaine to help him find Philumalee.
"She, having realized that Ciara Philumalee was somebody Donald Davis was seeking...she contacted Mr. Davis after she incidentally had become aware of Ms. Philumalee's location," Moeser says. A criminal complaint states Johnson was also paid money for his help, and Davis, Lovick, Johnson and an unnamed woman went to the Karstens Drive apartment in search of Philumalee.
