Doe caught between a stump and a hard place

APPLETON (WKOW) -- A curious doe got its head stuck in a stump last week, but was freed thanks to some quick-thinking neighbors.

Two Appleton residents, Todd and Rachel Miller, contacted the DNR after finding that a doe had become entangled in a stump on their property.

The DNR posted photos of her circumstance over the weekend on its Facebook page.

The Millers were able to free the doe, and to make sure it didn't happen again, they cut up the stump.

According to the DNR post:

This doe found herself between a rock and a “tree” place, but thanks to some quick thinking by Appleton residents, Todd and Rachel Miller, she was freed from the stump. To help further, the couple cut up the stump, which was located on their property, to ensure that it would not happen to another animal. Thank you, Todd and Rachel, for taking action and caring about Wisconsin wildlife.
