Sheriff: Portage stepdad shot kids with needle Nerf darts

PORTAGE (WKOW) -- A Portage stepfather is in jail after reportedly shooting his young children with a Nerf gun that had needles attached to the end of the darts, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

Brian Alexander, 33, was arrested for two counts of physical abuse of a child after evidence was obtained that he was shooting nerf darts with sharp needles sticking out of them at his step kids. An investigation done by the sheriff's office and Columbia County Health and Human Services revealed this behavior has been happening for a while.

The children involved ranged in age from 6 to 9-years-old.

Alexander is being held in the Columbia County Jail.
