Janesville man critical following Sunday UTV crash in Lafayette County

A Janesville man is in critical condition following a late Sunday afternoon UTV accident in Lafayette County.

Cory A Williams, 41, of Janesville  was traveling eastbound on the Cheese Country Trail when he lost control of the 2016 UTV causing it to roll multiple times, according to Lafayette County Sheriff Reg Gill. 

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting the crash on the trail near Gille Lane in Gratiot Township.

Lafayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Gratiot Fire and First Response, Darlington Area Ambulance Service and Green County EMS were paged and responded.

Williams was found unresponsive and not breathing, according to Gill.

A passenger in the UTV, Heidi M. Weber, 28, of Monroe, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Williams was transported to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County and then transferred by Med Flight to University Hospital in Madison.

Weber was transported to the Monroe Hospital Emergency Room, according to Gill.

The incident remains under investigation by the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office in cooperation with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
