Teen injured in shooting near La Follette High School

UPDATE (WKOW) — The Madison Police Department says officers are on the scene of a shooting where a teenager had a non-life threatening gunshot wound Wednesday morning.

People who called 911 reported a fight between several young men at the corner of Linda Vista Road and Turner Avenue around 10:40 a.m. A gun was fired and the wounded boy was found walking in the area, according to police.

Officers are interviewing witnesses right now. The area of the shooting is closed to traffic at this time.

The intersection is just blocks from La Follette High School and near Sennett Middle School. Both schools are keeping students inside at this time, they tell 27 News.
