Madison Police Spokesman Joel Despain says a 16 year old male was shot during a fight a couple blocks from La Follette High School late Wednesday morning. Despain says his injuries are non life-threatening and he should soon be released from the hospital. Police continue to search for the shooter.
Witnesses say the fight between several young people happened around 10:40 at the intersection of Turner Avenue and Linda Vista Road. Despain says at this time, they're getting conflicting statements from those involved so cops aren't sure where the group involved in the dispute was coming from or where they were headed. But police do believe the victim was the intended target.
Despain says it's lucky nobody else was injured in the gunfire, as a passenger window of a vehicle in the area was damaged by bullets.
