Demonstrators rally at state Capitol to support legalizing marijuana

MADISON (WKOW) — A group of demonstrators were coming together this weekend to show lawmakers there is support for legal cannabis in Wisconsin.

The Great Midwest Marijuana Harvest Festival wrapped up Sunday. It’s hosted by the Madison chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, known as NORML.

Organizers say it’s an important time to rally because 16 counties will have a cannabis referendum on the ballot in November.

“This is changing people and actually saving people’s lives everyday. It’s time that Wisconsin steps up and gives us an opportunity like that, too,” said Brian Seamonson, with Madison NORML.

Supporters walked in a peaceful march from Library Mall to the state Capitol steps on Sunday.
