Sheriff: “Evidence of a crime” in Iowa County teen’s death

DODGEVILLE (WKOW) – Iowa County Sheriff Steve Michek says investigators found “…evidence of a crime…” in the death of a 13-year-old girl.

Authorities say the girl died May 31 on sprawling property on Miller Road in the Town of Mineral Point.  In June, Iowa County Sheriff’s officials announced the death was considered suspicious.

Michek declined to identify what level of suspected crime took place in connection to the teenager’s death.  Michek tells 27 News investigative reports have been forwarded to Iowa County District Attorney Larry Nelson.

Nelson tells 27 News the case is assigned to Assistant District Attorney Matthew Allen.  Allen has yet to respond to a request for comment from 27 News.

A former Madison man and his family were living in a home on the property at the time of the girl’s death.
