Cocaine worth $800,000 seized during stop in Fitchburg

Four kilos of cocaine with a street value of $800,000 was seized Wednesday and an officer was nearly hit by the suspect’s fleeing car during a vehicle stop in a Fitchburg parking lot.

Edward C. Bartlett, II, 29, no permanent address was arrested for possession with intent to deliver cocaine, second degree reckless endangering safety, resisting/obstructing and a parole violation.

Police attempted to contact Bartlett while he was inside a car in a Fitchburg parking lot on Kings James Way.

Bartlett ignored officers’ commands and instead gunned the engine, attempting to flee, according to a Madison police incident report.

He nearly hit an officer, police say.

However The Dane County Narcotics Task Force members had set up squad cars to box him in.

He slammed his car into one of the occupied squads, and then attempted to run, but was quickly apprehended

The cocaine was recovered from inside his car.
