Victims of Chippewa Falls crash identified

Authorities have released the names of the victims killed when police say an intoxicated driver went off the road and hit them.

Jayna Kelley, Autumn Helgeson and Haylee Hickle were the three Girl Scouts killed in the incident Saturday in Lake Hallie. Haylee’s mother Sara Schneider was also killed. A fourth girl was in the hospital in critical condition.

Jayna and Autumn went to Halmstad Elementary School and Haylee went to Southview, in the Chippewa Falls district.

The girls were working on a Girl Scouts service project, cleaning up the highway, when the driver’s pickup truck went into the ditch off Highway 29. He’s accused of huffing before getting in the car. Police say he initially drove away after the incident, but later turned himself in.

The community has started a GoFundMe page to support the Chippewa Falls Girl Scout troop #3055. Money raised will go to funeral costs and medical expenses. Any leftover money will be used to start a memorial fund.
