Strong winds fuel shed fire Tuesday in Sauk City

SAUK CITY (WKOW) — The Sauk City Volunteer Fire Department, along with Prairie du Sac Fire and Sauk Prairie Ambulance was called about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to the 8700 block of Zech Road in the town of Honey Creek for a reported structure fire.

An 80’ x 120’ farm shed with numerous bails of hay and farm equipment inside was fully engulfed with additional buildings threatened, according to a news release.

Firefighters battled strong winds throughout the night trying to contain the fire to the original shed.

About 90,000 gallons of water were used on the fire. Fire crews left the scene at approximately 11:30 p.m.

There were no injuries reported.

The shed and its contents are considered a total loss.

Damage estimates to the structure and its contents are approximately $125,000.

A spark from farm equipment working in the area ignited bales of hay in the shed.
