Couple Wanted for Madison Robbery Arrested in South Carolina

A suspect in an armed robbery and his alleged accomplice were taken into custody Monday night in York County, S.C., following a five-hour standoff with U.S. Marshals and York County Sheriff’s Department SWAT.

Jamaal D. Lee, 35, Stoughton faces a charge of armed robbery.

Emily R. Johns, 34, Oregon, was arrested on felony warrant and for a probation violation.

The Madison robbery happened Oct. 26 when police were sent to the 400 block of N. Segoe Rd, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.

The victim reported that he met the suspect through Facebook Marketplace and arranged to buy a cell phone, however the phone he intended to sell was not operational.

The suspect noticed that the victim had his own cell phone.

The suspect showed a handgun and took the victim’s phone.

The suspect fled in a maroon SUV occupied by an adult female and a baby in a car seat, however police have since learned that the baby had been in the care of a family member in Dane County while the pair was on the run.

The arrested duo are also suspects in an armed robbery that took place in Minnesota.
