3 Percent pay raise for UW System employees approved

Regents for the University of Wisconsin system have approved a 3 percent pay raise for all system employees each of the next two fiscal years.  The plan was approved unanimously.

The proposal includes full state funding of the general wage increase.  Normally the state will provide roughly 70 percent of hte UW System pay increases, while the rest is funded by tuition.

There had been six years of tuition freezes prior to this.

Officials with the System say that pay raises have trailed inflation over recent years, and that faculty salaries lag behind peer institutions.  The proposal now needs legislative approval.
