Madison woman arrested for burglary twice in four days

Madison police have arrested a Madison woman for the second time this week following a break-in early Wednesday at a Jenifer St. apartment.

Peggy L. Fleming, 38, Madison was arrested for burglary, resisting and bail jumping.

Fleming is well known to officers.

Police had  arrested Fleming Saturday for a similar home burglary that took place on Riva Road.

In Wednesday morning’s case, a 27-year-old resident was awakened after hearing his unlocked apartment door open.

He told the woman to leave after finding her near the door going through a bag containing his property.

At the same time, a neighbor of the victim was already on the phone to police. The neighbor had also been awakened by someone trying to open his front door, which was locked.

He looked outside and could see the burglar now entering the home next door. Officers were on their way just as the woman left the victim’s home. She was taken to jail after resisting arrest.
